Starship Merchants

Artwork of various game elements for board game “Starship Merchants” released by ToyVault. Everything besides the illustrations on the cards (planets, pilots, ships, etc.), was created from scratch.

Player Mat

Build like a starship dashboard, the player mat holds game cards and tokens for a single ship. The goal was to make the player feel as though they are seeing a readout of the starship type, destination, pilot and cargo. Cards and tokens placed ontop of the player mat shared similar colors and graphic motifs, reflecting changes to the ship.

Destination, Refinery, and Market Cards

These are the different card decks found in the game and the designs on the front and back sides.

Icons

The mine and credit tokens and various icons used on the cards were designed and created by me.

Logo

When I first started the project I chose to design the game logo first, but ironically it's the last item presented here. I felt the logo would dictate the rest of the game's design and channel the right energy suited for a retro-space game. Below is the evolution of the logo's design and the final rendering.
